"Forest Monster" Animations (SCP - Containment Breach Official, 2013/2014)

My earliest animation assignment, which was for the indie horror game SCP - Containment Breach. Back in 2013 and 2014 the developers for SCP - CB were pushing to complete the SCP-860 assets for the long-awaited v1.0 update. To help speed things up, I volunteered to help out with the animations for the aptly named "Forest Monster", one of the new entities that was planned to appear in the update.

The Forest Monster was designed and modelled by Moonsaber, while I did nearly all of the monster's animations with the exception of the first one shown in the reel (It was done by either Omniary or Microcaine, I don't quite recall). When working on this, I was instructed to base the movements off of big cats, since its design is heavily influenced by them. Of course, my knowledge of character animation at the time was extremely rudimentary, so the animations were very rough and do not hold up very well by my current standards, but the devs found them to be satisfactory enough to use. Unfortunately, the process used to port the finished model and animations from Blender to Blitz Basic 3D was imperfect, and as a result the ported animations ended up being jittery and glitchy. Since the original .blend file for the model seems to have been sadly lost to the sands of time, I had to port the Blitz 3D version of the model for this reel, so these artifacts are noticeable here as well. Despite the unfortunate flaws and animation glitches, the animations for this creature are still in the game to this day. I'm still proud that I managed to contribute to something, but despite that I still lament that I wasn't able to do better.

This project doesn't reflect the current quality of my character animations by a long shot, I just thought I'd show it here to prove that I did in fact contribute to a game at least once.

Reel. The twitches and artifacts are by no means intentional.
