SCP-939 Concept Art (SCP: Project Upsilon)

Concept art of SCP-939 for Anenpa Team's upcoming game, SCP: Project Upsilon. I was given permission by the lead dev to share these creature concepts

With this take I was going for a very grounded interpretation of this otherwise very anomalous species. Borrowing some design elements from a previous SCP-939 design I did, I based this version of SCP-939 more on mammals as opposed to reptiles. The overall posture and form of the creature is inspired by big cats, hyenas, and gorillas, and I imagine that its walking and running gaits would resemble a mixture of the three. The hardest part of the design to figure out was the head, but I ultimately took inspiration from toothed whales such as dolphins. The heat-sensing pits were based on those of pythonidae snakes, and the fangs were partly based on the frighteningly large teeth of emerald tree boas, albeit with the ability to fold backward like the fangs of vipers. To make sense of their extremely strong bites, I added clusters of molar-like teeth resembling the dentition of sheepshead fish. The sticky setae pads on the hands and feet are not unlike those of geckos, using Van der Waal's forces to cling onto surfaces.

SCP-939 "With Many Voices" was written by Adam Smascher.
